Emporium Dome 1987 anaglyph.jpg

The Emporium had a publicly accessible area on the roof on the western side of the dome. From the top sales floor, one could climb four or five steps to a door that opened onto an open area that was carpeted with green astro-turf. There were high walls around the perimeter and the western side of the dome formed the eastern boundary. There were benches along the wall and a couple of picnic tables. There was also a real cable car positioned east to west! You could enter the cable car and I suppose that several generations of Emporium employees had their lunch there as I did on several occasions. I wish that I had taken photos of the entire area when I shot the photos of the dome. I wonder what happened to the cable car?
